A Note From Sue:
We recently returned from Sunscape Resort, October, 2002, with a group of 40 guests. I just cannot say enough about Mr. Rod Gahr, the General Manager of the resort. He is from Seattle, Washington, and knows that when American's go to another 'culture'.....we still want our creature comforts!!! He is a very unusual General Manager"... you will see him everywhere and he is very accessible. He even posts his direct phone number at the resort.
I have been at the resort 2 years ago and thought it was "nice". The difference and the improvements that Rod has made since then cannot be described! The gardens are beautifully manicured, and the entire resort is very clean and well maintained. Extra activities and events???? WOW!!
When we arrived at the resort we were greeted by Rod, and enjoyed a very quick, smooth check-in. My husband (bob) and I then had lunch with Rod and toured the entire property. We enjoyed hearing all the details and information Rod shared. He is very proud of how he has 'changed' the resort.... and he should be!! Our first evening we went to the Manager's Cocktail Reception in the main lobby and it was great! There were wonderful canapes and drinks served, terrific entertainment, and we were introduced to the staff. Rod has a way f creating a lot of excitement and energy!! From there we went to dinner, and later we were treated to the most wonderful show I've ever seen in the Caribbean.
Monday Night Football will never be the same back in the states!! We watched the Monday Night Football game on a 20 foot screen with a perfect picture and sound, comfortably reclined on lounge chairs, ON THE BEACH, under the starts , with nachos, hot dogs, wings, and beer!!! It just doesn't get any better than that! (Rod's doing, of course)!
The entire staff at the resort is superb. You know what they say, "It starts at the top"! Rod would not settle for any less than perfection from his staff, and I must say they were just terrific!
This is a wonderful choice for a group... the way the property is designed, you can always find someone in your group and there is a real feeling of 'togetherness'.
